Ducted fans are available in either Axial or Centrifugal models.

Inline ducted fans are quieter because the fan is situated in the ducting line, away from the actual room. Air is drawn into the ducting via a wall or ceiling grille and carried through the fan, into a second length of ducting before being expelled outside.
